No more multi-part streams from me, Steve — I’m done splitting up the same game into chunks. After upgrading the office and dialing in the settings, all streams from here on out will be in 1080. This won’t apply to every stream (IRL and mobile gaming might be exceptions), but the quality is WAY better compared to the old setup.

If you haven’t dropped by in a while, swing through every Tuesday for a live stream. Hit up the Discord to stay in the loop when I or other community members go live.

Why the change?

Long story short — we used to run 720 at 30fps, but still had streaming issues. Local streaming at 1080 was smooth, but the old gear couldn’t handle it. Rendering and uploading took forever. Like, 3 hours to 1.5 days, depending on the file size.

Here’s what would happen: if a stream went over 2 hours, I had to break it into parts just to get it onto YouTube. Even then, the process still took 3 hours to 1.5 days.

After the upgrades, running 720 settings, the whole process now takes 1–2 hours. And now that we’re rolling into the 1080 world, we’re looking at 3–7 hours depending on the file size. That means I can take an 8-hour stream at 1080 and still get it processed and ready for social media.

What’s next?

Running the wires! For now, they’ll be temporary just to make sure everything performs flawlessly — or at least better than it does now. Once it’s locked in, I’ll route the wires for a more permanent setup.

Bottom line: I’m loving the quality and seriously excited to see what’s next.
